Miss Lucy’s Monograms Make Personalization Beautiful

After 33 years of teaching high school theater, Debbie Walker decided to retire. But her creative spirit would not allow her to relax for long after her husband was forced to sell his construction business because of the economy. So Debbie decided to start an online monogramming business because of her love for monogrammed accessories.

Miss Lucy’s Monograms began two years ago in her home just outside Atlanta, GA. The family named the business after their newest member, Lucy, a puppy-mill-rescue dog. Her daughter helped design the logo and her business was born.

It is strictly an online business, although they do offer local pickup. Debbie would love a brick-and-mortar store, but she has made the decision to grow her business patiently in these current economic times.

With over 500 accessories available, including totes, duffles, Bible covers, cosmetic and laptop cases, baby and bridal gifts and even dog collars, Debbie has many fun gifts to offer her customers. The best part is her beautiful monogramming work is included in the price.

Debbie is a big fan of Nashville Wraps’ packaging. She uses our paw print cello bags for smaller items – key fobs, cosmetic cases or acrylic tumblers – with our paw print seal and a little hot pink or lime shred inside. She always adds a bow of hot pink and lime green paper raffia to every item sold.

The crinkle paper ribbon makes great bows for the Pooch’s Paws and Domino Alley bags, along with hot pink and lime tissue. Local customers receive their orders in the Pooch’s Paw plastic bags.

Debbie runs her business from her large basement – her “studio”. One room is for designing and monogramming, and the other is the stock room and shipping area.

Recently, her shipping space was redesigned with the help of her friend Rhoda, creator of the Southern Hospitality Blog and DIY interior design extraordinaire. See the entire makeover here.

Social media marketing is an important part of Debbie’s business. Miss Lucy’s Monograms has over 3,000 Facebook fans. Debbie updates her page every day with items ready to be shipped out to give her customers ideas. She promotes Lucy’s online in many different ways, including her blog, reviews, giveaways, newsletters and coupon codes.
