Tissue Paper for All Things Practical & All Things Fun

Crimson and Clover Store Window DisplayTissue paper is probably a staple in your store. Since there is no better selection of USA made, 100% recycled wholesale tissue paper than Nashville wraps, we want to share with you some creative ideas along with practical tips for our tissue.

A really fun way to dress up your store window is using tissue on your mannequins. They will attract a lot of attention without a lot of expense. Crimson & Clover Boutique in Cordele, Georgia created a wonderful display of whimsy with green, kraft and metallic silver tissue along with newspaper to make an elegant ball gown for their mannequin. Their chic downtown shop with vintage-inspired window displays, tall ceilings and original tile floors was once home to the classic automobiles of Hurt Motor Company.

Owner Whitney Coley explains, “My sister Emily Williams designs our store windows and came up with the idea for the dress. We didn’t want to spend a ton of money on supplies so we used tissue paper and newspaper we already had to make it. We even had people to call and ask if it was real and available to purchase for prom!”

The Peacock Ladies

Catching Fireflies is a whimsical gift boutique in Michigan. Started by April & Steve McCrumb, their downtown Berkley location which used to house a pharmacy was the beginning of their paper design business that quickly grew into a magical gift shop. They now have stores in Ann Arbor and Rochester too.

April admits, “I have a love-hate relationship with doing our Berkley store windows. After doing them for over 12 years, I’m often challenged with coming up with fresh themes that are eye-catching, yet easy to implement. I feel that we’ve done all the typical spring themes of flowers, showers, butterflies, bikes and kites so this spring I thumbed through my trusty Curly Girl Design catalog for some inspiration.

“There were plenty of wonderful and whimsical scenes I foresee as future windows in the catalog, but Mrs. Peacock struck a chord with me this March. So with $30 of tulle, tissue and felt, I transformed our quirky ladies into pretty peacocks who aren’t afraid to stand out from a crowd. I know this scene will bring smiles to those who stroll along our sidewalk this spring.” Read April’s post on how she did it.

Making Paper Dresses

Laura Larson got started making paper dresses as a fun mother-daughter activity. At first she started making them with materials coffee filters, post-its, newspaper/magazines, wrapping paper, cupcake liners, paper towels, brown paper bags/kraft paper, and whatever else she could find in her craft closet. Laura says, “I found that the tissue paper was my favorite medium to work with, because it is easy to use, inexpensive and can come in any color I can think of. Most dresses can be made in 30 minutes or less, and are constructed only with shipping tape and scissors. I also hand dye them with liquid watercolors, Rit dye or food coloring.”

Laura, who has put her ETSY shop, Two Yellow Shoes, on hold while she is on maternity leave, uses the dresses as party props for photo booths and as decoration at birthday parties. She started adding Velcro to the dresses for ease of use and to make them adjustable without ripping or cutting. See all her adorable dresses here.

“I love Nashville Wraps tissue because you can buy in bulk and in any color imaginable,” says Laura. “I also like the 20″ x 30” tissue paper assortment packs. A lot of the inspiration for the dresses came from looking through the variety packs and by putting together different color combinations. I will admit that I looked at other vendors, but after some trial and error, I found that the price and quality from Nashville Wraps could not be beat.”
