Stamp Your Own Cotton Favor Bags

Hand Stamped Cotton Bags

Some of my favorite recent additions to the Nashville Wraps catalog are our plain, unbleached 100% cotton bags. We carry the classic flat drawstring bags and mini totes with handles along with linen bags. While these reusable little bags make pretty, eco-friendly packaging on their own, I especially love how they look with a hand-stamped design.

The bags shown here were stamped using supplies found at our local craft store. We picked up an alphabet of initials and symbols, a few phrases, a few cute illustrations and small “flourish” designs, and some ink pads. There were entire aisles of the store devoted to stamps, so deciding on just a few was the only hard part!

If you want to stamp your own bags, just look for stamp ink pads which are made for fabric as well as paper; I think darker inks work better because they provide more contrast. The smaller, flat bags work well as wedding favor bags, stamped with “Thank You” or the couple’s initial(s). You may also want to have a custom stamp made for your bags; just do a quick search on Etsy to find one you like. Follow this link for more ideas on Pinterest.

A few tips for clean-looking stamp imprints: Practice stamping a few times on a scrap piece of paper first to get better ink coverage (I ruined a few bags before I figured this out – oops!). Ironing your bags with a little steam will give you a better stamping surface. And as with most handmade items, keep in mind that little imperfections only add to the charm. But, it’s a good idea to have a few extra bags on hand, just in case. You can find more Favor Packaging here.
