Wrap on the Cheap!

Tissue-Wrapped Gift

Gift wrap does not have to be expensive. It makes no sense to spend more on the wrap than you did on the gift.

I’ve put together 3 simple ideas for making a pretty presentation without breaking the budget using product from Nashville Wraps.

1. Colorful Gift Boxes

Let’s start with a colorful box like our Kraft Tint Purple Box. You need a box anyway, so why not make it a pretty one and skip the gift wrap. Ribbon is inexpensive, so add a big beautiful bow to complement the box (bow-tying how-to videos here). Cheap and stunning!

2. Tissue Paper Wrap

Tissue paper costs only pennies a sheet. A white box wrapped with printed tissue makes a lovely package. If you are not careful with the layers, the prints will show through from the underside – not as pretty. Use the following technique to keep the print from overlapping.

Place your box on the wrong side of the paper, centered top to bottom on the centerfold of the tissue as in this picture.

Fold the tissue over the top of the box and trim off the excess so you have just enough to cover the right side of your box without wrapping under to the bottom. This prevents seeing another layer of print on the back side.

Trim the paper on the bottom right so that you have enough to make an inch fold on the edge for a nice finish and just enough to fold up and meet the top edge of your box as in the photo. Then just wrap the ends as you would with traditional gift wrap.

Not difficult at all! See how pretty mine turned out with coordinating ribbon:

3. Printed Cello Wrap

The third idea is similar, but I used white tissue (two sheets stacked together) and layered a sheet of printed cello over the top. Place the cello face down on your work table and then put the tissue on top of it. Wrap your box as usual and you have a shiny printed look. I went with a baby theme here, using inexpensive poly ribbon to make a layered band around the gift, adding a pull bow to match – look how cute it is!

These are only a few ideas to get you warmed up. I’m sure you have some great money-saving ideas of your own – please post them in the comments! See all our best deals here.
