Fuel, Inflation and the price of eggs in China

When I was growing up we used a phrase when someone got way off subject in a conversation, “What does that have to do with the price of eggs in China?” Ironically, today the price of eggs in China and many other factors are affecting the cost of goods and services we pay for here in the US and all across the world.

While our domestic economy is improving slowly, the prices we all pay for groceries, fuel, shipping, and practically everything else have gone up. Because there are global price increases on raw materials and finished goods brought on by events in the Middle East, inflation in China and even the tragedy in Japan, prices in the US are already inching up.

Therefore on or around the first of May, you can expect to see price increases on packaging as lower-cost inventories wear thin. How much of an increase depends on the material and the point of origin, which we are still sorting out. It is safe to say that we are looking at 2% to 4% increases for most US-made products and from 5% to 15% on many Chinese imports. There are products which are not increasing at all and a few imports that may go just slightly higher.

Nashville Wraps believes that the business you place with us is more like a partnership than a transaction. That is why we want you to be aware of changes that could affect you positively or negatively. We feel that whatever we can do to help you manage your business is better for all of us.

Give yourself a (price) break

Here are a few suggestions on how you can save serious cash on all sorts of popular packaging products at Nashville Wraps.

Visit our packaging specials page. Specials typically run between 10% and 40% off regular wholesale. They change monthly but are sometimes added to more frequently. We try to include a little bit for everyone each month.

Look more closely online. Many products have discounts for quantities as few as a dozen, and that info may not be shown in the printed catalog. If a product has a quantity-based discount, it is shown on the product detail page, so click deeper.

Scan our closeout listings. These contain products that are from 40% to 75% (and more) off original wholesale. The list varies from time to time, and like any clearance sale, gets cheaper as time goes on until sold out. You can search for closeouts on our web site by using the asterisk symbol in a broad search. For instance, if you want to see what is available in closeouts for tissue paper, search (on the Wraps site) for “* tissue paper”.

Get your order up to $300 and receive our “Cheap $15 Flat Rate Shipping*”. Get $15 freight for orders up to $499 of combined products while it lasts. Order $500 or more and get Free Freight*. If you are counting, you know that packaging typically is heavy and of moderately low value, so freight can be a significant percentage of the order. *

Always good ideas… the plastic bags you featured? Those are the ones I use. By changing the color of the tissue paper I insert, I can make those work for Christmas (green or red paper), Easter (pastel) or any other event. They are a great choice when you cannot stock a wide variety of bags!
