Nashville Wraps<\/a> in Hendersonville has started a new, environmentally friendly product line, but for one of the county\u2019s largest packaging wholesalers, recycling is more than an objective.<\/p>\n

In fact, paper recovery is what got the company started more than 30 years ago.Robert Meadows, a clothing salesman in the textile industry, noticed that tons of paper used to stamp designs on fabrics went unused.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were just throwing away these rolls of beautiful designs,\u201d said Buffie Baril, Nashville Wraps\u2019 internet marketing coordinator.<\/p>\n

Meadows and son Robby started selling the byproduct to local gift shops as wrapping paper. After buyers asked for bows and boxes, the Meadows gradually expanded their catalog to offer an abundance of gift and gourmet packing products.<\/p>\n

Nashville Wraps now works with customers across the country and is slowly entering the international market. Quick shipping, quality products and customer service have made it a lead supplier of main-street stores in Sumner County.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very customer-oriented,\u201d said Elise Boucher, who works in the accounting department.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey bend over backward for the customer,\u201d said Pam Kenney, floor designer and shop manager at Perkins Drugs & Gift Shoppe in Gallatin. \u201cThey ship immediately, and we\u2019ve never had any problems with them,\u201d<\/p>\n

Perkins, one of Nashville Wraps\u2019 most veteran area buyers, picked the wholesaler because of proximity. That\u2019s what recently attracted The Red Tulip in Gallatin as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe chose them because they are local,\u201d Rachel Mullins, The Red Tulip\u2019s owner said. \u201cWe order it today, and we get it tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quick shipping is one of Nashville Wraps\u2019 main assets, Baril said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOut goal is to ship within 24 hours of the order,\u201d she said. \u201cWe stock what we sell, unlike many companies that don\u2019t inventory products.\u201d<\/p>\n

With two warehouses in Hendersonville and Goodlettsville, the wholesaler offers anything from bags to ribbons to box fillers, but Baril said several design and custom packaging collections set Nashville Wraps apart.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are unique bags that they can\u2019t buy anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n

A designer on staff researches the latest trends to create collections such as \u201cCherry Blossom,\u201d \u201cChocolate Sprinkles\u201d and \u201cZebra.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company recently launched a series of new products manufactured from recycled plastic or paper. The venture is one of many projects Nashville Wraps\u2019 has initiated over the years to stay green.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore people ask about recycled packaging, and we want to give our customers options,\u201d Baril said.<\/p>\n

The company also recycles old catalogues, cardboard, plastics,\u00a0office paper, newspaper\u00a0and aluminum cans while the building runs on energy-efficient electricity.<\/p>\n

Evident by its name, the company originally started in Nashville. After it consecutively outgrew its building there and another in Madison, it moved to Hendersonville, which is its owner\u2019s hometown.<\/p>\n

Centrally located for employees and shipment trucks, Baril said the site meets the business\u2019 needs. \u201cIt\u2019s a perfect place for the company.\u201d<\/p>\n

CORPORATE CITIZEN<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Nashville Wraps has long been providing financial help to organizations in Sumner County.<\/p>\n

In 2007, employees raised $22,000 for the Hendersonville Relay For Life, receiving several awards for their effort. The goal for 2008 is to raise another $25,000.<\/p>\n

Several employees have first-hand experiences with cancer, including company president Chuck Wilson who is currently battling a rare type of brain cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us Relay For Life is almost a year-round activity,\u201d Wilson said in a press release.<\/p>\n
