They offer much more support than paper scrunched into the bottom of the box, are not as messy, take much less time to assemble and require less storage space than paper. The sides can be shortened if you need a deeper gift basket. I usually do this at my paper cutter, cutting an inch or two from all four of the pieces that fit down in my box.

At first I didn’t like the ones with the backs; I thought they were unattractive sticking up in the back of my container. I did like the way they supported tall objects and let me build a higher basket. We all know that tall represents perceived value. So I went to work to figure out ways of disguising them and softening the look. Here are some of the things I’ve come up with.

A cello fan taped to the bottom before adding colorful shred works well – I like to add one to the back of my gift basket box also. Never forget that the back of your presentation is as important as the front. I usually anchor the back one with some sort of enhancement or tuck a cello fan into the back of the basket box between the bench and the box back. You can use double stick tape, glue lines or dots to hold this fan in place. Featured products: Large White Roses Basket Box (discontinued), Large Bench with Back, Gold Swirls Cello, and White & Gold Crinkle Cut Shred.

I like wrapping the back with coordinating gift paper using double stick tape to hold it all together. You can even punch holes into the basket bench bottom with a kraft knife to hold tall items. This method held my item at an angle just the way I wanted it to be.
