As I was curling these ribbons, I discovered that if I don’t like the way a curl turned out, I could gently curl the other side of the ribbon to straighten it back out before trying again. I could also straighten it and cut the ends in a V-shape, as I did with the black and white ribbon.<\/p>\nTo tie a diagonal ribbon on the front of a shopping bag – our US-made Snowflake Flurry and Holiday Holly bags are shown here – I simply cut a small vertical slit in the gusset (the folded side) of the bag, about 4 inches down from the top edge and about half an inch from the corner. My favorite is the Black Onyx, which looks amazing with an orange kraft shopping bag for Halloween (shown above). “Carving” the bag to look like a jack o’ lantern was easy – I just drew the face on the bag with a pencil, tucked a piece of cardboard inside, then carefully cut out the shapes with an Xacto knife.<\/p>\n
