Nashville Wraps® Custom Printed Packaging Art Submission Guidelines

What is a PDF file?

PDF files are "Portable Document Format" files generated by many programs. This format allows you to share your file in its original format, preserving the look-and-feel of the original document regardless of what kind of computer or software the other party has. Please read the following tips closely so that your artwork meets our requirements. Customer art files not meeting our requirements will incur art charges when it becomes necessary to convert a file to an acceptable format.

Tips to Remember when Creating PDF files*
  1. "Save As"
Many programs can create PDFs from the "File" menu.
    For example, if using Photoshop:
    • Select File/Save As/ then select the "Format" of "Photoshop PSD".
    • Use the highest Quality setting that is available. If the Option"Compression" is available, select "Do Not Downsample".
    • Always check the option "Use Outlines for Text". We cannot use your text if this option is not checked. If this option is not availble, you must use "Embed Fonts".

  2. "Export"
Other programs export PDFs from the "File" menu.
    For example, if using Quark:
    • Select File/Export/Layout as PDF.
    • An "Options" menu usually displays when exporting PDFs. Under the "Options" you use Compression Options of "none".
    • Always check the option "Embed all fonts". We cannot use your text if this option is not checked.

  3. "Acrobat Distiller"
If you have this program available, you can create PDFs from your postscript files.
    • Go to Settings/Edit Adobe PDF settings
    • Turn all "Compression" settings off.
    • Always check the option "Embed all fonts". We cannot use your text if this option is not checked.
    • Create and Distill your file using the settings above.
*Any graphics embedded in the file must be created with a high resolution of 600ppi or more and be "Bitmap" mode. Your artwork should be black text/logo on a white background. Do not use halftones (gray areas), reverse text (white text on black), fine lines (less than one point), intricate details, photos, shading or embossing. Make your type legible: the edges should be clear and the letters must not touch. Type cannot be smaller than 10 point when the art is reduced to the final plate size/imprint size. Small script type does not reproduce well. Type that is not legible will appear as a solid filled-in area on the printed product.
